The Pixel Animator is a digital drawing kit designed to be easy to assemble while giving children a first look into the world of digital art, more specifically pixel art and animation.
It can be assembled without the need to solder and is therefore well suited for children from 6 years old on.
Is is part of a workshop where children build their own Pixel Animator while learning about it’s components, followed by an explanation on how to use the device and some time to make their own animations .

The workshop starts with a demonstration of a fully assembled Pixel Animator
It’s then followed by a step by step assembly where the function of each component is explained.
After building the device the participants can test all it’s functions and start exploring drawing on it.
Finally the participants can ask further question and, if interested, can get a look at the code used to controle the device .
Goals:
The workshop is a great opportunity for children to have a first contact with both pixel art and electrical components.
It’s supposed to get them interested in these subjects and motivated to explore them in more depth when they are back at home.
Therefore everything is design around the idea of being not complicated to understand, but with enough depth to explore further without getting boring.
The kit is designed to be affordable enough for each participants to be able to take their Pixel animator with them back home and continue playing with it their.
